When reality deceives, is instauration possible?
The human mind is a complex entity. Even more intricate is it's information processing abilities.
The side-show barkers of old used to say, "What your eyes see, your heart must believe". It is equally true, that, "What your heart believes, your eyes will see". I have said many times, "The easiest person to deceive, is the person staring back at you in the mirror". We can make ourselves believe the unbelivable, and justify the unjustifiable.
Lewis Carroll had a good grasp on the concept in his works, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Nothing was as it seemed. Up is down; black is white; good is evil; etc, etc.
Today, we have similar misconceptions: The economy is booming; we're winning the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; we live in a democratic republic; etc, etc.
I am not an advocate of drug use, although I find the prohibition of marijuana to be archaic. In my younger days, I used many various recreational drugs, and knew many people who were also recreational drug users. There is a distinct difference between use and abuse. The same can be said about alcohol usage. I have found that people who use (not abuse) illicit drugs, to be more in touch with reality than those who do not use.
It is absurd, ludicrous, and down-right farcical for people to go to their doctors and be given prescriptions for all sorts of drugs (uppers, downers, and in-betweeners); and then harp on people who self-medicate off the street. This is hypocrisy at it's best. It is these self-righteous, doctor sanctioned, drug users who have the loosest grasp on reality.
So when you're out chasing rabbits and fall down the hole, take the time to discern the reality you witness.
I'll close with my favorite Jefferson Airplane song, circa 1967. Grace Slick, singing White Rabbit.

You did a good one Brother!
You know this is right on to say the least: Today, we have similar misconceptions: The economy is booming; we're winning the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; we live in a democratic republic; etc, etc.
The funny thing is bush's economy is doing great ours stinks! Iraq and Afghanistan are successes if you understand what their real goal is!This facade is a Democratic Republic Bush is just the sole decider!
I have to tell you i am not a user either but like you I was in my youth and better leave the rest unsaid but also like you abusers aside I found user's to be the best to have beside me when the shit hit the fan!
Man love that song, does that make you reminisce or what?
Jim--
As I said, use and abuse are two different things. I don't find any difference between recreational drugs and alcohol.
Some drugs, such as methamphetamines and opiates are highly addictive, and should be banned. However, drugs such as marijuana, psychedelics, and yes, even cocaine, are less damaging than alcohol. Nothing is good if it is abused. Too much mashed potatoes can kill you.
Grace Slick is a rock-icon. I love her as much for her attitude, as I do her music. White Rabbit, in my opinion, was her greatest writing.
In her words, she had 3 arrests for TUI (talking under the influence). She was always arrested for it when outside the vehicle. In one instance, for lack of motor oil, the engine caught fire. She was standing outside the burning car, when a cop pulled up and asked, "What's the problem?". Her response to him promptly got her arrested for DUI. LOL
I told you on my site but You make sure you have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend!
